Take A

When we left Hoi An, we took a grab back to Da Nang, straight to the train station. As we were early on purpose, we at across the street at CHOI’S - Korean Kitchen. Great food, interesting and cheap. Took the train from Da Nang to Hue. Worth the time and money. The following are some views along the way….

We stayed at the Chum Boutique.‍ ‍Cute, good location. Form there we walked along the shore of the Perfume River, but it was hot and humid so not much on day one.

The next day we took an over priced (by local standards) boat tour up the Perfume river, only good aspect was it dropped us at the Thiên Mụ Pagoda. Monks live in this famous 7-story Buddhist temple, built in 1601 & featuring landscaped grounds. It was serene even with a fair amount of tourist. Highlight of Hue for us. Pics below….

Next day we started to visit the Hue Imperial City. Stopped for breakfast at N Cafe and Food. Right across the mote from the Imperial City. After breakfast we walked through the main bridge/entrance to the Imperial city - Cửa Ngăn (cửa Thể Nhân). Pics below…

Overall, Hue was not our place. maybe it was the heat and humidity, or possibly a little tired from travel. But overall, did not like it as much as we expected too. We will go back and give it another chance in the future. The Chum Boutique has great look, nice lobby, but the room was underwhelming. Small, cramped, and toilet / shower opened to the room and were very small, not well lit. Enjoyed the Pagoda. Beautiful grounds, quite, serene. Did not get a good look at the Imperial City as we melted in the heat and humidity and headed back to the room and air conditioning. Local area around the Chum Boutique was a bit dirty. Went for tea at Lotus House Coffee part of the White Lotus Hue Hotel. Underwhelming for sure. No AC, limited menu, almost no food, and completely dead.
